Event Description

Greetings Java Enthusiasts!

This month, we welcome the return of Jackie Gleason. Jackie will give a talk you're sure to enjoy.

Abstract:

It seems we are living in the day of the scripting framework, now-a-days everything seems to be in something.js. Why is that? What is Node.js? How do I use it to create simple, free (like beer and speech) and robust sites and services? All of these questions and more are answered in Responsive Web Design Using Express.JS. In this presentation we will explore the layers of the Node project and find out how to create free responsive web-apps on platforms such as RedHat's OpenShift. This will be a bit of a mixup, seeing as we are on an odd night and talking about JS more than Java but it will be a great way to learn a new language!
Bio:
Jackie Gleason is an "ex" Orlando native that currently resides in Columbus, OH. Mr. Gleason is a full time Enterprise Java Tech Lead for Key Bank in their Fraud Services division. His passions include Android Development, Node Development, OpenGL/Box2D development, and General Linux based development. Mr. Gleason recently achieved his MBA in finance and operations from The Ohio State University and is also very interested in financial modeling.

As always, please RSVP so we'll know how much pizza to order.
