Event Description

The Community Leadership Summit 2015 is the sixth incarnation of the primary event that brings together community leaders and managers and the projects and organizations that are interested in growing and empowering a strong community. The event is FREE to attend for everyone. Register here. And, here's a link to a video media page.

The Community Leadership Summit provides an unconference-style schedule in which attendees can discuss, debate and explore topics. This is augmented with a range of scheduled talks, panel discussions, networking opportunities and more, and all supported by a comprehensive support community and forum.

The event has become the primary place that brings together the leading minds in the field with new community builders to discuss topics such as governance, creating collaborative environments, conflict resolution, transparency, open infrastructure, innersourcing, social networking, hiring community managers, commercial investment in community, engineering vs. marketing approaches to community leadership and much more.

The Community Leadership Summit was conceived back in 2009 by Jono Bacon, the community manager for the global Ubuntu community and author of The Art of Community by O’Reilly and he has organized it each year since then. Jono is a leading speaker and author on the topic of community governance, growth and collaborative development. He put together the summit as a first step in helping community managers and leaders to define and refine their work, share knowledge and make connections in a vendor neutral way.

Since then he has been joined by a team of organizers including Dave Nielson (active in the CloudCamp community), Van Riper (organizer of the CLS-West and active Google community manager), Sara Ford, Marsee Henon (community manager and liaison for O’Reilly) and others.
