We had such a great time at First Magnitude I think we'll make a habit of it! When the sun sets, they have a firepit and ample seating. We can even toss a frisbee - here's one before First Magnitude love:
And, after:
Thanks to local entrepreneur Steven Kanner of www.kannerkarts.com for donating the fine Frisbee.
Here's some of what we talked about at the February meeting:
"Boy, we had a fantastic time yesterday at First Magnitude. Conversations were very diverse and included how C++ version 11 includes lambdas, wearable devices, Swift, WWDC and potential of developing apps for the new Apple watch may elicit an invite to the upcoming conference, Android, and more. The folks at First Magnitude have done such an incredible job. There was a little fire out back for warmth as it got chilly when the sun set. I think we're going to make a habit of this..."
Stay tuned, but this is it! We're having a blast. Hope you can join us. Bring a friend!

I ran into Steve from First Magnitude at Ward's yesterday. Sure am looking forward to tomorrow's GatorJUG. Last time, a couple of developers from Opie Software just happened to be there. I'll have a few interesting new books to talk about, one in particular is called "If Hemingway Wrote JavaScript". Adam mentioned Java 7 EOL, so we'll look at the implications of versioning Java. The Apple event yesterday was all about getting smaller, faster and running longer with innovations like health research related apps that are open source. Open Source Bridge extended their call for papers and I have one ticket to raffle off! Exclamation point! I'm looking at airfares to Portland, which are as cheap as they'll ever be right now. OSCON is also coming up. I go every year. So, please let your friends know we'll be getting together at First Magnitude tomorrow night at 6PM in the back near the firepit. All the best, Michael
