How did you hear about Codetown?
I went to a JUG meeting, and I found out there's a "facebook for coders". I don't have a facebook, but a facebook for coders doesn't sound so bad.
What are your main interests in software development?
right now, I'm just interested in learning as many languages as I can as well as I can (I'm decent at C++ and Perl, and I can say hello world in Java, Python, Lisp, Haskell, JavaScript, Ruby, and C#), and getting some practical coding experience under my belt. as far as projects go, I'm not good enough at either relevant language (C++/C#) to program games for my phone, but that's probably what I'll end up doing a lot of over the next year.

well, that and learning some of this new XHTML stuff (last time I wrote HTML was almost a decade ago. I hear it's changed) and figuring out CGI.pm, so I can put up a web site.
Do you have a website?

Anything else you'd like to add? Where do you live? (optional!)
I don't care what anyone says, I still think JavaScript.onMouseOver is a funny way to play internet pranks on people.

Apple's Illusion of Thinking Paper Explores Limits of Large Reasoning Models

Apple Machine Learning Research published a paper titled "The Illusion of Thinking," which investigates the abilities of Large Reasoning Models (LRMs) on a set of puzzles. As the complexity of the puzzles increases, the researchers found that LRMs encounter a "collapse" threshold where the models reduce their reasoning effort, indicating a limit to the models' scalability.

Presentation: A Framework for Building Micro Metrics for LLM System Evaluation

Denys Linkov shares lessons on preventing LLM production issues. He explains the flaws of single metrics, the importance of treating models as observable systems, building user-issue-alerting metrics, and focusing on business value. He emphasizes a "crawl, walk, run" approach to LLM metric maturity for successful, trust-building deployments.
