Hi Gatorjuggies!
We had a PaaS presentation planned for this month's meeting, but it looks like it's going to be September instead. So, stay tuned for that.
Meanwhile, let's all take a breather until September since many of us are out of town.
Please keep an eye on Codetown for updates on summer news and conferences. I'm making last minute plans for OSCON and I have discount codes for you if you want to go.
=================
We have a lot to talk about this month:
Upcoming conferences - among others, ever have an itch to visit Ukraine? Well, if you have a nice talk, the JUG in Lviv will pay your travel expenses! There's a Java conference in Krakow June 9. JavaOne is in September and we have discount codes for you. OSCON is in Portland in July (discount codes also available).
Job opportunities - there are several interesting opportunities to explore.
Technology - Let's have a roundtable discussion about your favorite technologies, open spaces style. I want to talk about Map Reduce and Big Data.
Also, Julie in beautiful Prague at JetBrains, the company behind products like Idea, the powerful Java IDE, is going to give us a free license to raffle off. http://www.jetbrains.com
And, there's more!
This will be an interesting meeting, to be sure. So, please RSVP so we'll know how much pizza to order. Feel free to invite a friend.
As always, I hope to see you there.
All the best,
Michael Levin
Codetown is a social network. It's got blogs, forums, groups, personal pages and more! You might think of Codetown as a funky camper van with lots of compartments for your stuff and a great multimedia system, too! Best of all, Codetown has room for all of your friends.

By Stefania ChaplinShane Hastie, Lead Editor for Culture & Methods, spoke to Thanos Diacakis about how teams often struggle with software delivery. He proposes a shift in mental models and a four-step framework to systematically improve software development by focusing on bottlenecks, balancing different types of work beyond just feature delivery, and investing 20-30% of effort in improving how the team works.
By Thanos DiacakisNext.js 15.5 has landed, delivering faster builds and powerful server-side middleware. Key highlights include the Turbopack bundler, which boosts compilation speed by 2x to 5x, and Node.js middleware enhancements.
