Share Your Ideas ::: Folder URL Shortener

Have a great idea? Better keep it to yourself. Someone else will snatch it up and do it if you tell! On the other hand, how many great ideas go undone? So, do the right thing. If you have a great idea, tell the world. There's room for everyone. It's especially right to tell if you're not sure you can execute the idea. You can always build a better mousetrap later.

URL Shorteners are all the rage. Check out http://www.bit.ly for example. How about a URL folder shortener? I keep thinking about "More", Dave Winer's outliner software. It's all about organizing ideas.

Let's discuss this idea and your new ideas in Idea Town. Click here!

Here's a good idea I'd like to kick around:
We're all sick of talking to tech support on the otherside of the earth. I think Americans can do these jobs just as well as anybody else, but we've priced ourselves out of this market - companies save money because other countries don't have to pay our minimum wage. To make matters worse, a lot of unemployed people would jump at the chance to work inside in a comfortable chair for less than minimum wage, especially if their unemployment benefits have been exhausted. I think there is a way to get around the minimum wage law- people become not employees but partners in the company. So my bright idea? Find a warehouse, buy some equipment, and some people disparate for work. Spend some time upgrading the basic english and enunciation skills of these employees, make them partners, and then convince some companies to 'buy American' instead of oursourcing their phone tech support.

Happy 10th year, JCertif!

Pretext.js Bypasses DOM Layout Reflow, Enabling Advanced UX Patterns at 120 FPS

Cheng Lou, a Midjourney engineer, recently released Pretext, a 15KB open-source TypeScript library that measures and lays out text without browser layout reflows, enabling advanced UX/UI patterns like infinite lists, masonry layouts, and scroll position anchoring to run at 60-120 fps. Pretext was built using an AI loop that reverse-engineered the DOM’s layout calculations.
