Codetown ::: a software developer's community
I ran into Steve from First Magnitude at Ward's yesterday. Sure am looking forward to tomorrow's GatorJUG. Last time, a couple of developers from Opie Software just happened to be there. I'll have a few interesting new books to talk about, one in particular is called "If Hemingway Wrote JavaScript". Adam mentioned Java 7 EOL, so we'll look at the implications of versioning Java. The Apple event yesterday was all about getting smaller, faster and running longer with innovations like health research related apps that are open source. Open Source Bridge extended their call for papers and I have one ticket to raffle off! Exclamation point! I'm looking at airfares to Portland, which are as cheap as they'll ever be right now. OSCON is also coming up. I go every year. So, please let your friends know we'll be getting together at First Magnitude tomorrow night at 6PM in the back near the firepit. All the best, Michael

By Dan MooreHugging Face has released AI Sheets, an open-source application designed to let users build, transform, and enrich datasets using AI models through a spreadsheet-like interface. The tool, available both on the Hub and for local deployment, allows users to experiment with thousands of open models, including OpenAI’s gpt-oss, without requiring code.
By Robert KrzaczyńskiAirbnb has developed Impulse, an internal load testing framework to improve microservice reliability and performance. It enables distributed, large-scale testing and lets teams run self-service, context-aware load tests integrated with CI pipelines. By simulating production-like traffic, Impulse helps engineers identify bottlenecks and errors before changes reach production.
