Codetown ::: a software developer's community
I had the pleasure of attending Enterprise Connect '17. #EC17 is a conference about communication: telephony, video, chat, and all forms of conferencing. It's been around many years. The expo hall had big familiar players like Microsoft, Oracle, and Cisco. There were also big players you'd know if you're in the communications market like 8 by 8.
There was a good bit of talk about API's but not a lot of dissecting code. Unified Comms as a Service (UCaaS) was a big focus.
Here are some of the topics:
The sense you'll get at EC is that unified communications in the cloud is the way to go. Most vendors have versatile API's that make it easy to wire them all together.
Stay tuned - more to come!

Docker has launched Kanvas, a new platform designed to bridge the gap between local development and cloud production. By automating the conversion of Docker Compose files into Kubernetes artefacts, the tool challenges established solutions like Helm and Kustomize. Developed with Layer5, it marks a shift toward Infrastructure as Code, offering visualisations to simplify cloud-native deployments.
