What the heck are containers, microservices and Docker? Did I read somewhere that Docker has been downloaded 2 billion times? Two billion? That's insanely huge! Docker is a container.
This little article Behrang recommended cleared up some questions we had about microservices. (That's Behrang in the photo above) What are microservices? It's not rocket science. The name microservices is pretty clear. They're little components. What's a container? Same story - simple. It's a way of wiring components like microservices together. That image above is from Sequoia and explains pretty well the "ecosystem" of microservices.
