Codetown ::: a software developer's community
Bebo has such an interesting story. It started about the same time as Facebook, became super popular, got sold to AOL and then to C Capital Partners. Now, the owners have bought it back and are reviving it.
Here's an article about Bebo from '06 that reads like like something prehistoric (dinosaurs, I mean):

Meanwhile, it's an opportunity to see a website transformed now. The article talks a little about racks of computers and terabytes of storage. Some architecture info. Now, 10 years later, things have changed so much.
