SUMMARY:OrlandoJUG - JCP, JSF + Servlet
DESCRIPTION:Hello OrlandoJUG!\n\nThis will be our first meeting of 201
6! DeVry has moved and can host us after all!\n\nThe new address is:\n
 DeVry University 7352 Greenbrier Parkway\nRoom 103\nOrlando FL 32819\n
\n\n We have special guests - Heather VanCura, of the JCP. That's the
Java Community Process! \n\nNot only that, but Heather's invited Ed B
urns, Java Server Faces (JSF) specification lead!\n\n\n\nThis is a big
deal because first of all, Heather lives all the way out west in Cali
fornia. She's going to fly out here just for YOU!\n\nShe'll tell you a
ll about the Java Community Process and how it affects the language yo
u use every day. And that's not all! Ed is the point person for JSF.
Ed's is a software stylist, speaker, and author, currently working in
the server side Java space.\n\nEd Burns' presentation will consist of
excerpts from two of his JavaOne 2015 presentations:\nJSF 2.3: Continu
ed Return on Investment with Incremental Innovation\n  This session s
howcases the commitment to continued innovation in the standard UI for
Java EE that enables customers to do new things with their existing J
SF applications and skills. JSF 2.3 was announced at JavaOne 2014. The
session takes a look into the progress of JSR 372 since then, with a
special emphasis on contributions from the community.\nServlet 4.0: HT
TP/2 and Reactive Programming in Java EE 8\n  Servlet 4.0 was announc
ed at JavaOne 2014. This session takes a look at the progress of JSR 3
69 since then, with special emphasis on the Grizzly implementation and
the unique features it provides for doing HTTP/2 and reactive program
ming on Java EE 8.\n\nNow, we want to give Heather and Ed a warm welco
me so let's have a big turnout. Invite your friends. If we have more t
han 40 RSVP's I'll change the venue to accommodate everyone. Hey, we'l
l have pizza galore and I can say one thing for sure: Heather's been i
nvolved with the Java community for as long as I can remember. She jus
t flew out to Dakar, Senegal and gave a talk for our buds at the SeneJ
UG www.senejug.com - I helped start that group along with Lamine Ba.
 I'm proud to say that.\n\nPlus, she's arranging a Google hangout so t
hat the Senegal JUG (and others) can session attend remotely. How abou
 t that?!\n\nMeanwhile, if you're interested in giving a presentation,
sponsoring the group by buying pizza or want to get otherwise involved
, please give me a call. 321-252-9322.\n\nAnd, please keep an eye on t
his announcement - I'll update it as details firm up.\n\nAlso, we have
a shiny new Meetup group - http://www.meetup.com/orlandojug/ How abo
ut that! So, since Meetup is ubiquitous these days, I ponied up for a
year. Hopefully, everyone will migrate over here to Codetown and write
up some tasty blog posts.\n\nAs always, I hope to see many of you at
 this meeting.\n\n\nAll the best,\n\nMichael Levin\nhttp://tinyurl.com/
